HISTORY OF OUR HOSPITAL

Belvoir Pet Hospital was built as a veterinary clinic in 1938, by Dr. David Elsasser.  He and his wife lived on the second floor and raised their three daughters there.  Dr. Joseph N. Farkas graduated from The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1964, and began practicing with Dr. Elsasser that year.  Joe was later joined by his new wife, Dr. Marty Farkas (OSU grad, 1965) and the Drs. Farkas purchased the practice in 1972.

Marty and Joe Farkas practiced as a team for over 33 years until their son, Joseph J. Farkas "Butch" joined the practice in 1998.  Butch purchased the practice in 2003.  In May 2004, Dr. Marty Farkas passed away suddenly.  Dr. Joseph N. Farkas, his son "Butch" and Dr. Carol Radinsky (who joined the practice in 2005) currently practice together at Belvoir.

BELVOIR PET HOSPITAL HAS BEEN AN ACCREDITED MEMBER OF THE AMERICAN ANIMAL HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION AAHA SINCE 1950.

"AAHA Standards of Accreditation

AAHA developed the Accreditation Program to raise the level of care being provided to companion animals. We also wanted to increase loyalty among veterinary staff members and provide a way for practices to show their excellence to their communities and clients. AAHA, along with a group of veterinary experts, developed the AAHA Standards of Accreditation as benchmarks of excellence. We also developed the evaluation system where practices are regularly evaluated by a Practice Consultant to ensure they meet AAHA’s standards.

Veterinary practices choose to become AAHA-accredited for a myriad of reasons, including the desire to:

  • Have challenging benchmarks to reach
  • Ensure that practices are up-to-date on changes in veterinary medicine
  • Improve practice operations and check skills
  • Enhance credibility with peers and clients
  • Inspire pride among staff members
  • Encourage leadership development
  • Have their achievements recognized
